Galadhrim, also known as Tree-people, were the Silvan Elves (including those that were Sindar) who inhabited the woods of Lothlórien that was ruled by Galadriel and Celeborn.

At the beginning of the Second Age, the Silvan elves of the forest named themselves the "Galadhrim" after the founding of Lothlórien. In 1980 3A, the Galadhrim had gone undisturbed when the Balrog in Khazad-Dûm was freed. Upon this event, many of them fled south to Dol Amroth while those sailed over the sea. The Galadhrim that remained lived happily in Lórien until the end of the Third Age. Frodo and Sam witnessed a group of 100 elves that left Lothlórien and were travelling to the Grey Havens, setting sail to the Undying Lands.

After the Balrog's death at the hands of Gandalf in 3001 3A, most of the Galadhrim that left Lorien have returned while the rest decided to remain in the Undying Lands. In Dol Amroth, more than 800 Galadhrim remained with Prince Elphir and became very civilized with the Atani. The Galadhrim have also fought during the War of the Ring against the forces of Mordor. The war ended with Sauron's defeat and a new age had begun. When Galadriel and Celeborn departed to the Undying Lands, Lórien remained civilized since many of the Galadhrim chose to stay during the Fourth Age.
