"Eyes are upon you. Wizened eyes that have seen much, and would see much more. A mighty tower rises over Mordor. But at the foot of the Mountains of Mist, on the edges an ancient forest, another tower looms. Through me it's master will learn of the Lord of the Nazgûl - and the Ranger who presunes to challenge him!"
―Khrosh to Talion on his master (Saruman)

Khrosh also known as Khrosh of the White Hand or the White Hand Uruk was an Uruk in the service of the Dark Lord Sauron and an agent of the wizard Saruman.

History[]

Saruman's Uruk agent in Mordor[]

"Remember, if you see a Man fight dirty. They certainly will."
―Khrosh to his Orc troops

As a reward for his loyalty, Sauron gave his servant, Saruman the opportunity to choose a henchman from five Uruk captains. The wizard chose one named Khrosh, who acted as a spokesman and informant for him in Mordor.

Spying the Witch-king[]

"So it's true. You come back! My master will be fascinated by this."
―Khrosh on immortality

As the Witch-king of Angmar slowly gained Sauron's favour, the rivalry between him and Saruman grew as well. Seeking to learn his weaknesses, the wizard had Khrosh infiltrate the Court of the Lord of the Nazgûl.

Despite the fact that he quickly rose as a trusted lieutenant to the Black Captain, the Uruk captain remained determined to finish his mission, though he was initially tempted to forget his duty to Saruman. He learned that the Gravewalker was now challenging the Witch-king, as the latter besieged the city of Minas Ithil. Through Morgai flies, he reported his find to the wizard, who told him that the wraith was their priority now.

Gathering information on the Gravewalker[]

"I hope you don't stay dead. There is so much my master wishes to know."
―Khrosh to a dying Talion

Khrosh participated in the Siege of Minas Ithil, but kept a low-profile, unwilling to reveal his presence too early to the Gravewalker. He noted that the Bright Lord was indeed a capable fighter as he had witnessed the latter slay not only mere Orcs, but Uruks as well.

As a high-ranking member of the Witch-king's Court, he was able to gather information from various sources on the Gravewalker and sent a message of what he had learned back to the Tower of Orthanc.

Confronting the Gravewalker[]

"My death matters not. I am but one window through which the wizard in the Stone Tower sees. His gaze pierces cloud and shadow!"
―Khrosh on how insignificant his end will be

Saruman received orders from Sauron that he was not to kill the Gravewalker, as the Dark Lord himself desired to ensnare Talion into his service.

So the wizard sent Khrosh to gather more information for his Master on the Gravewalker. Despite his orders not to kill the Ranger, the Uruk captain confronted Talion and attempted to end him on several occasions.

Overlord[]

"Our spells and magics defend this fortress for Master Sauron! In his name we practice our dark arts! And as the signs foretold, his enemies will flee our terrible power!"
―Khrosh to the Bright Lord's army

Due to his performance, Sauron had Khrosh made overlord of a fortress. Caring little now for either the Witch-king or Saruman, he abandoned both and vowed to serve only the Dark Lord himself.

His rule as overlord did not last long, as he died in a siege led by his nemesis: the Gravewalker.
